The Florence is a new Savannah favorite. Award winning Chef and owner Hugh Acheson opened The Florence in June of 2014 after immense success in his previous endeavors (The Five & Ten and The National in Athens, Georgia as well as Empire State South in Atlanta, Georgia) and earning himself a judges seat on Top Chef.
Serving some of the finest Italian food in Savannah, the name The Florence is an obvious call back to the Italian city of Florence, where much of the menu’s culinary inspiration comes from. However, the name also references Savannah’s own Florence Martus also known as the “waving girl” whose famous memorial statue is located on River Street.
Located in a beautiful renovated factory building in Savannah’s Victorian district and serving up some of the freshest seasonal ingredients Savannah has to offer, The Florence is not to be missed. With an amazing cocktail bar, a daily changing dinner menu featuring freshly prepared pizza, pasta and life changing entrees, as well as a killer brunch-there’s always something for everyone.
One of our favorite things about the Florence though is their weekly “Rooftop Reels” that happen every Sunday in their beautiful rooftop dining room. This fall bring the kids (or just your inner child) to the 5pm showing for some tried and true Disney Classics or if it’s a more serious vibe you’re going for (might want to leave the kids with a sitter for these) come for the 7pm showing for some favorite classic war films. They serve a full menu along with the films so be sure to bring your appetite. The Florence doesn’t take reservations for the Rooftop Reels so get there right on time to snag yourself a seat. The themes for movie nights change seasonally, check back for updated lists!
