We found the George Hummel home to be perfect for our visit to Savannah. It is right across from Forsyth Park, easily within walking distance of many attractions, coffee shops etc. and yet far enough away from the hustle and noise of the city center. It was very clean and a beautiful old style home!
Manager Response:
Thank you for your kind words, Margaret! We look forward to next time!

Wonderful location and we didn't touch the car from arrival to departure. Beautifully decorated and the way I would want a period house from that era to look. All facilities were first class. The ONLY down side was the second bathroom was not en-suite and was rather small. This was not too inconvenient and was a small price to pay for the other outstanding facilities.

We were so excited to be staying in a home that was so full of character and in an awesome location. The beds were very comfortable and the home was clean. We rode the trolley one day that dropped us off right around the corner. Went for walks in Forsyth park. We had a code to come in and out so we never even saw anyone. We had the downstairs floor but no one was upstairs or next door so we were able to use the courtyard for an evening drink. Would highly recommend it!

My two adult daughters and I enjoyed a three day weekend, exloring Savannah. We had no idea how wonderful the location of George Hummel House was -what a surprise to find it on the best, biggest and busiest square in town. We could walk everywhere...or pick up the free trolley nearby. House is lovely, comfortable, well appointed and afater a long day sightseeing, so nice to come "home" to. Side yard is a sweet oasis and quite private. Don't hesitate to book this lovely home. You won't want to leave.

The picture says it all! The house is gorgeous on the outside and inside. It made me smile each time we were walking "home" to know that that beautiful home was where we were staying for the week. The location is perfect - just a few blocks away from a wonderful coffee house, delicious eateries and Kroeger's for anything that you nay need. We walked everywhere all week long. Walking across the street to Forsythe Park each day was a must. SO relaxing to walk the park, sit and read a book, or just to people ( and pet ) watch. The house was clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable, as was the living room area furniture for relaxing. The food at the Pink House and The Crystal Beer Parlor was scrumptious. Excellent food and service + so much history at each location. This is our second visit to Savannah, and each visit we have been amazed at how polite everyone is in the city!We look forward to returning to Savannah AND The George Hummel House.

This vacation rental is lovely and well located. Beautifully appointed, well stocked and clean, the apartment could not be improved upon. The keypad code system makes checking in flawless and every re-entry a snap. The close proximity of The Sentient Bean, a wonderful coffee shop, makes lattes and baked goods or delicious frittatas an easy addition to the morning ritual before heading north through Forsyth Park to explore neighborhoods, antique shops, museums, historic homes, River Street, and everything else historic Savannah has to offer.

First, the house was beautiful and lived up to the pictures. It was fully equipped kitchen (dishes and all)Better yet, the customer service was OUTSTANDING. A minor parking problem was met with a personal visit from Marsha (with gifts). A cable TV glitch and there again was Marsha. We have done the hotel thing...B&B thing but this was by far our best experience. Only "issue" was better A/C would be nice but ceiling fans sort of make up for it. Thank you Marsha for your prompt response and over the top customer service. You will not be unhappy with this house. We will be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at the George Hummel House in Savannah. It was right across the street from Forsyth Park which was great for us. We live in a rural part of North Georgia so seeing the trees at the park almost made us feel like we were at home. We enjoyed walking the perimeter of the park each night & walking down to River Street. The actual house was very well kept. It was clean & had a decent amount of space for 2 adults and 2 teens. We had plenty of towels & washcloths in the bathrooms. The kitchen was clean & easy to use. Most utensils needed for cooking were available in the kitchen. It does not have a dishwasher but it does have a large double sink with plenty of room for washing and rinsing dishes. That's not really a fun thing to do on vacation, but it beats paying $100.00 for dinner each night for a family of four. Everything was provided for us and we did not have to ask the manager for anything. She did call us once to see if everything was okay with our stay. I would definitely recommend this property to friends or family. Savannah is a great place to visit. Lots of history! We enjoyed River Street, Joe's Crab Shack and the Old Savannah Trolley Tours. We also visited Ft. Pulaski, Old Fort Jackson, & Oatland Island Nature Center. Tybee Island, of course, is beautiful! We went to the beach twice during our stay & watched a storm roll in the second time at the beach. It was a scary & awesome looking sight. One other thing about the house, I would love to see before & after pictures of any renovations that were done to the house & it would be interesting to know about the history of the house. Maybe the owners could leave a photo album & brief history of the home in a notebook in the house. Just an idea! If we choose to visit Savannah in the future, we would love to stay here again.

Absolutely love the George Hummel House. The location couldn`t have been better, right on the park and the home was immaculate when we arrived. Turns out the office is right next door and we got to meet Marcia and she hooked us up with some tour tickets and made a reservation for us at the Pink House. What a delight. This was our third time to Savannah and we always stayed in vacation rentals. This was the best by far and from now on we will always stay with Savannah Dream vacations. 2 issues:1. Lighting is inadequate in the living room & bedroom off the living room. Felt like a bat without the eyesight (and I have 20/20 eyesight)2. Rain on 2 nights & the window in the bedroom off the living room leaked - missed my shoes by inches. Kept rolled up towels under the window3. Did you confuse the 2 bedroom with the 3 bedroom unit? Were led to believe that the downstairs unit was the 3 bedroom unit with 3 bathrooms - instead it was 2 bedrooms & the 2nd bathroom was tiny.

There are several local attractions close by and great places to eat. After a day of sight seeing it was very pleasant to end the day with a late afternoon stroll through the park. Loved everything about the house. It was just what we expected with plenty of Savannah charm and history. It even has a lovely private garden area for a peaceful retreat. Overall experience good. Even though the home was clean it needs a "white glove" cleaning/courtyard needs attending(overgrown). I thought this unit had handicap access, it does not. Home beautifully decorated, but sofas need cleaning. A broom or small vac would be a great addition and all purpose spray cleaner. Otherwise...a wonderful visit to Savannah. Kitchen could be a bit better fit out. Great place to explore from, Charleston for 1 day and Tybee Island in easy commuting distances from Drayton. Loved living in the residential district away from sanitized and stuffy hotels. Really take in the local feel of the town. The following week we were in Cape May, NJ to get married in a victorian mansion; Drayton help ease us into that Victorian mood and relaxed atmosphere, very nicely. Thanks for the easy fun & easy experiences of Savannah.

We were very pleased with our accommodations. Everything was in great shape, clean and very well decorated. The garden area beside the home was delightful where we had breakfast each morning and wine and appetizers in the evening. The staff was very helpful when I had trouble working the DVD player. The home is located across from a large park which was nice. The only drawback is the street that it is located on is a 2 lane one way street into the heart of Savannah, so there was quite a bit of traffic going by. Consequently it was noisy intermittently at night and would get busy starting about 6:30 in the morning. Still - we would stay here again because the apartment was so nice.

Kitchen generally well equipped except there was just one wine glass. Overall, it's a very nice property but I would probably look for a quieter location next time.
